The apron is light weight but gives a good amount of front side protection. Highly recommended!

    Summary: straps are the issue
    Comment:
Thanks to the more critical reviews, I bought this with the thought in mind that the straps would need attention sooner or later. I was nonplussed when the 'sooner' turned out to be RIGHT NOW. The straps are made of a single ply of the same leather as the apron, attached with box stitching. The one I received had the stitching pulling loose from one side at the neck strap RIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGE, WITHOUT DONNING IT EVEN ONCE! The metal hardware you see in the photo are nice double-headed rivets (despite the description there are no snaps, heavy or otherwise. If the straps were 2 plies sewn together and attached to the apron with these same rivets, this would be a 5-star item, especially for the price.

I like the weight of the suede leather, which is heavier than a heayweight denim apron and affords more protection against cuts and sparks, yet is not so thick as to be hot or stiff. I still give this 3 stars. The pockets are attached with 2 lines of stitching and the rivets present a smooth, comfortable feel on the inside, unlike tubular rivets which can scratch or snag. As long as you know what you're getting into, and as long as you don't mind tinkering with it a bit (I don't-- a trip to the leather crafts store, a few rivets and some scrap leather or webbing, and I figure I'll be in good shape) I feel this is an acceptable deal. Just be aware.

THIS IS A LIFESAVER. MY WIFE DOESN'T NAG ME ANYMORE BECAUSE THE APRON KEEPS THE SPARKS AND OTHER THINGS FROM DESTROYING MY CLOTHES.GREAT ITEM THANKS. LLOYD GAZAWAY

Summary: A little lightweight, but functional
    Comment:
I guess I'm used to heavier leather, riding a harley and welding for around 50 years, so this seems kind of lightweight to me. Well made, and functional, just not nearly as heavy as my other welding attire I've collected over the decades.

Arrived quickly and in perfect condition.
