perfect tool for removing old tiles

Comment:
i used this tool to remove old tiles from the bathroom and the kitchen. it worked very well. i didn't even break a sweat. Wear your protective gears such as ear muff, and eye protection goggle. This is a great tool for removing tiles. Solid built.

Used this hammer to get rid of an old title entry way about 20X5 feet. Did two passes one to get rid of the title and another to remove the high spots. Took it all out in 2.5-3 hours. I agree with the others this is a top notch chisel hammer. You better wear eye protection, gloves, long sleeve shirt, hat, and a mask. Crap is flying everywhere. I didn't wear a cap and was picking rocks out of my hair for a day or so. Please be safe with this beast!

Ideal for smaller projects

Comment:
This is not an industrial strength tool, but it will chip away household tile, bricks, mortar residue, and other nasty stuff that one encounters in a household remodeling job. I am a DIYer but am serious about my tools, and this is a really good one--what you'd expect from Bosch. The scraping bit has been especially useful for chipping away floor tiles and residue, wall tiles, and mortar. It basically makes mince meat of these materials and in a precise way too. It would be underpowered for heavy concrete work (such as busting up a driveway or walkway), but for remodeling it is great. Sorry that I don't have more projects on which to use it. It's fun to use and has great action in chipping away hard materials. Does not overheat and needs very little care. Plenty of power for household projects. Not too noisy (although you'll want ear and eye protection). Loading and unloading the bits is pretty easy once you figure out the technique; bits stay put and can be angled at numerous angles to the work and unit. This can be very convenient depending on the project at hand. Through trial and error,I discovered that the unit only chips if the tip of the bit is pressed firmly against the work material (my bad). I probably should have read the instructions more carefully.
If you like fun tools, have a need for this tool, and don't mind spending some serious bucks, then this is a great tool to have in your bag. It's a small beast looking for work to do. Good carrying case and lubrication included along with two Bosch bits as I recall (scraper bit and pointed bit).

We bought a house that had an 8 foot floor to ceiling huge fake stone fireplace that we thought was hideous. The stones came off relatively easy with a hammer and chisel but the mortar was next to impossible to remove. I worked for a day and covered maybe 2 sq ft. This tool is solid and had the entire job completed in 4 hours. Down to the cinder block and ready to reface. You can remove material with almost pinpoint accuracy. Removed what I wanted to without hurting the cinder block behind it. Took up a tile entry way in about 2 minutes. I wish I had more things to destroy. Too much fun. Comes with 2 chisels. I bought chisels, not knowing and didn't need them. Bits pop in and release easily. Remember to grease them, you don't want one to get stuck on you. Sharp chisels and this tool with handle whatever you want to throw at it. I was nervous having never done this before. If you're like me, relax, spend the money and enjoy one of the best tools you'll ever buy. Use breathing and eye protection!

This was my first Amazon purchase and I reviewed this tool and its competitors from several sites. Amazon provided all the details I could want and this tool appeared to be exactly what I needed for the price. I have always enjoyed Bosch quality tools and this one is no different. I was confused at first about how to put things together and use the tool, but within minutes out of the box (and reading instructions) I had it tearing up tile faster than I could believe. I tend to push tools (among other things) to their upper limits of performance and I count on solid performance. This tool does what it says. Very well.
